Virtual Diving Talent ID Initiative and Learn to Dive

Virtual Talent ID is an excellent opportunity for any children interested in diving, regardless of their swimming and diving ability or experience – many of Team GB’s elite athletes, including Tom Daley, were identified this way! And because it’s all online, we’re excited to be able to reach children at schools where we may not have been able to do Talent ID in the past.

In response to Covid-19, Swim England & Scottish Swimming have moved their diving talent ID initiative online, and the deadline to sign up has been extended to this Sunday, 10th October, with the video submission deadline now 17th October. All information can be found on Swim England’s website.

Aberdeen Sports Village has a number of elite divers who were identified through this programme in the past, including 4 divers on the Scottish National squads and 1 selected for the Scottish Swimming/Swim England Team Z squad, which is the first level of Team GB.

STV will be airing a piece on some of our elite divers and Talent ID either tomorrow evening or later in the week. There will also be coverage in local newspapers and publications where parents and kids can learn more about our divers’ experience with diving at ASV and Talent ID. If you listen to Original 106, you may even hear our diving programme manager, Judy, being interviewed!
