Annual Can Can Appeal

The Annual Can Can Appeal will start on Monday 28th November. Every year we ask pupils for donations of non-perishable foodstuff and collect it in school over a 2 week period before packaging it up and delivering it to elderly citizens in the Oldmachar Academy catchment area.

We have names and addresses of some recipients but we would encourage pupils to bring in names and addresses of people who they think may not be on our list. Each household on our list will receive 1 package. This is a very worthy cause, promoting citizenship and fostering links with the community.

On the afternoon of Thursday 15th December S3 pupils will go out and deliver the packages. Over the coming weeks in PSE, S3 pupils will be making posters to advertise the event and gift cards to be attached to the packages. The S3 pupils will also take an active role in making up the packages.

All pupils who contribute will be entered into a prize draw to win a gift voucher. If pupils prefer, they can make a donation of £2 and foodstuff will be bought during the week of the delivery. Please encourage pupils to bring in nice tasty treats that elderly citizens will enjoy and to ask permission before raiding the cupboards at home!
